Who did Emily see in the laudromat doorway that warm May evening? It looked like her old friend, Rosie. Problem is, Rosie died of a heart attack five years ago. Now Rosie's old boyfriend, Derek, is reporting strange occurrences at his condo, a converted mill on the outskirts of Swansea, New Hampshire. Is it Rosie's ghost demanding revenge? Or is it a hoax?

Join Emily as she searches among Rosie's acquaintances and coworkers, including a lawyer whom Rosie had spoken to concerning a dispute with the local police. Complicating the search is Emily's relationship with Bud, a retired police detective, and her job as a Trainer at a multi-national bank. Each lead to solving the mystery of Rosie's death seems to create problems with Bud. Emily is very much in love with Bud, and she often feels that she has to chose between her investigation and Bud's approval.

Emily's friend, Melinda, brings her along on a ghost investigation of the condo where Derek lives with his new girlfriend, Cassie. Cassie is also in Emily's current training class.

The ghost investigation is a night none of the participants will soon forget.

Then there is Bud's dog, Casey, who has won Emily's heart.
