Why isn’t God enough for the world He created? We want Him there to announce and celebrate the arrival of our children. We want Him to be there when each of us says goodbye for the final time. We ask for healing even though we don’t truly want to be healed, because to us it’s our brokenness, our debris, our sickness, our weakness, our fallibilities, our frustrations, our fears, our differences that define us, and we’re comfortable with that. And so we live our unfulfilling, tempered, agnostic lives, and secretly we hedge our bet both ways — just in case. And that is the point we are stuck at…hedging our bets! Welcome to the impasse of all that has been, and of all that could be…
