In a village in ancient Mesopotamia, Magan, a woman warrior, struggles with the beliefs of the people in her village and her own disbelief. Although treated as an outcast, when a small army attacks her village in the middle of the night and steals the idol from the temple, she joins the warriors sent out to discover its destination and help return it to its people. She and her companion, Dzorin, a man who believes in the gods and his people, work together to recover the idol in spite of their differences. Their efforts are hampered by the very desert in which they live, a sorceress, and their own people.
