In Where Arrows Fly Justin Macord, a young, renowned archer, returns from years of Crusades in the Holy Land. He travels to Roman Wells to inform his best friend's parents that their son is dead. He has no home to return to and when invited, he decides to stay in town. A bowmaker and fletcher, he sets up shop, and his business soon flourishes. He earns some fame by winning an archery competition.

He falls in love with beautiful Simone, the daughter of an elite family that rules the town, but because he doesn't have the required pedigree, she remains out of his reach. Otherwise, Macord prospers in all his endeavors, and driven by his desires for her, he slowly rises through the social ranks. War intervenes as Roman Wells is besieged by envious neighboring nobles ready to strip the town of its entitlements. Because of his military experience, Macord becomes a vital part of the defense, to earn him more fame and standing, but is it enough to gain the hand of his beloved?
