When aristocratic Karl, Graf von Abensberg, heir to a centuries-old title, married commoner Leda Devoe, he told her he needed her strength, her courage, and her love. Soon all three are tested when Karl is injured in an explosion that leaves him in a deep coma, and Leda is all that stands between him and those who would rob him of his property, his fortune, and his very life. Will her courage and determination be enough to save the man she loves? They will have to be, for in her heart of hearts, Leda knows that if her beautiful husband's life is over, then so is her own.

Karl met Leda when Karl’s group, a group studying tropical diseases, contracted with the company Leda was working for to provide personnel for the study they will conduct. After three years of working together, a fight broke out in the area where they were working. Before everything ended badly, Leda confessed her feelings to Karl. Not long after, Karl and Leda are married and live in Karl’s home country, Belgium, where Karl is an aristocrat. In Belgium, Karl was injured by an explosion, leaving him in a coma. The people Leda expected to help her during these hard times were actually the people who would make her life harder. While My Love Sleeps by Amanda Brenner tells the story of Leda, her strength, and willpower to fight the people who want to take everything from them.
Leda and Karl’s love story is like a fairy tale with a kick-ass heroine. Leda stayed strong and determined even when things were going bad and her husband was not awake to help her. No one knew if or when Karl would wake up, but her conviction and faith was impressive. One of the main problems Leda encountered was that she was in a foreign land, but that wasn't a deterrent in her mission to protect her husband. I liked how the story flowed although I wasn't quite sure of the setting and time of the book. Overall, While My Love Sleeps is a very good romantic suspense book by Amanda Brenner.
