Once Kerri had submitted her book to a publisher, she anxiously waited to see if this would be the book that would eventually be published. Her idea to write a story about a writer that discovered some government secrets and then exposed them had been well researched, so she felt hopeful.
The publisher came back to her with a proposal that he would print a short run of thirty books. She felt disappointed, but decided to accept the deal. Then she also discovered she would have to sit inside a small bookshop within a mall and sell the books herself. This idea made Kerri feel decidedly unhappy.
Unfortunately, she had only sold a single copy of her book when a detective came and arrested her for publishing and exposing government secrets. Kerri tried to explain that her book was pure fiction, but he was not interested, so he took her into custody. She was held in a windowless room and questioned over and over again and even her meals were randomly served through a hatch.
Then one day they decided to release her with a stern warning. She was also told never to mention the incident, her book, or the secrets ever again. They also took her laptop and said they would be watching her.
When Kerri eventually returned to her flat the place had been ransacked. She felt scared, and she had no friends and her only relative, her Grandmother, lived in England. So as she had nobody to turn to she just got on with her life and tried to forget what had happened.
Then much later, Kerri found out that her book had been published under another title by someone else. This opened her eyes as to what had really been going on. This meant she investigated, took some action,called her Grandmother and ...
