The common thought on why Satan rebelled is he wanted to take God's place. My theory is Jesus was promoted from the least of the sons of God (the Elohim are higher than angels) to God's chosen son. This upset Lucifer (Satan) so he rebelled. This is not explained in scripture. I try to show that this fits the pattern of scripture. Abraham was the 3rd son even though he is listed first in the genealogy. Think for yourself to see if this theory fits the pattern of scripture. We won't know if Jesus was promoted to God's chosen son or if he was eternally equal to God the Father until we meet him face to face.
