After adopting two children in Newfoundland, Canada, Peggy returns to the States with her husband. In the back woods of northern Minnesota Peggy buys a forty-acre section of land where she clears a site near a wilderness pond. Deer, moose and bear visit the pond regularly. One day when it rains on her she decides to build a tool shed. Eventually it turns into an eight by ten foot cabin in which she lives for a while. Friendship Cabin is built by friends with rustic cedar siding. Having lived without electricity or running water in Nigeria, Africa, where she was a missionary for six years, the rustic living suited her just fine. Splitting wood, hauling drinking water from a neighbor and melting snow for washing up, life takes on a real challenge.
