In the Samaritan encounter we know of the meeting between Jesus and the unknown Samaritan woman has a significant importance for our faith and our understanding of the Gospel. The Unknown woman at the Well becomes well-known to Jesus and the first true disciple of Jesus, outside of the band of Apostles. The Woman at the Well now brings her other Samaritan family and friends to meet Jesus. First this particular Samaritan encounter of Jesus gives us insights into the love Jesus had for those outside of Judea. Also, when the Samaritan Woman begins to react with Jesus, we start to understand the significance of the Samaritans and faith and the desire of other Samaritans to encounter Jesus and his message. In short, the Samaritan encounter between Jesus and the woman at the well is part of the Mystery of Faith. In the same way, we use social media today in order to share with friends and family our experiences and encounters with others, so the Samaritan woman offers us an insight into first-century ground level social media. The woman at the well uses her social skills to make her Samaritan encounter with the Messiah as a turning point for herself and her entire community. After the woman shares her experience with Jesus they no longer have to rely on her story, but they make their Samaritan encounter with Jesus and come to the renewed faith Jesus brings thru his Gospel of peace and total service to God.
