Xola Lola may look like she fits well into the landscape of her native Mexico, but here in Vermont, she stands out like a rose among thorns . . . at least to us!

To some, she is so ugly she’s cute. To others, she is a curiosity, something to be stared at and pointed out. For those who take the time to get to know her, they find she is as remarkably kind, gentle, and sensitive as she is beautiful!

With amber eyes that seem to draw a person in, it has been said, on more than one occasion, that she seems to be able to look right through a person or, as some have said, into their very soul! And that look leaves people wanting to be kinder, at least to her. She is an unconventional beauty with unconditional love.

This is her story, from her native Mexico to her new home in Vermont, as told by her favorite little human, our four-year-old granddaughter, Anne Shirley.
