Introduction
After taking my time really to consider the multilateral issues that often play out in the affairs of singles and how it seems that these issues are advancing in their complexities and monstrosities on daily basis, I felt much compelled to put on the pages of the book what I think would not only insightful but more importantly helpful.
The statistics are staggering. The number of unmarried ready-to-marry-singles is ever increasing. The divorce rate is now two out of three in some places. Several millions of singles have questions that seem to have no answers. We are not only concerned about the alarming statistics but much more, their implications, and above all, managing the implications. We do have some great challenges but more importantly, we have the solutions.
In “Yes, I do”, our chief objective is to guide every single man or lady reading the book to the point of ‘I do’ and to that right person, at the right time through all time truths and principles from God’s word and from human angle respectively. So that it can remain ‘I do’ always – for a lifetime.
The Triangle of Knowledge
Knowledge is key in life. The Bible clearly affirms the fact that lack of knowledge destroys people – including the singles. Basically, there are three kinds of knowledge – information knowledge, experiential knowledge and revelation knowledge. The information knowledge is the lowest form of knowledge. It is the most open and accessible form of knowledge. It is head knowledge. The experiential knowledge is acquired with time. It is practical, personal and peculiar. It is heart knowledge not just head knowledge. It is deeper and insightful. The third kind of knowledge is the revelation knowledge. It comes by inspiration or impartation. It is the deepest, surest and greatest level of knowledge. It is divine.
In this book, we have adopted a blend of these three kinds of knowledge to produce a balance submission. We have written, putting in view, the empirical facts and figures drawn from the information we have on contemporary singles. We are sharing useful information that will help you as a single person.
In addition to that, we are sharing experiences here and there. Having been a single once, and coming across several hundreds of singles in one-on-one counseling sessions, group fellowships, mentoring and pastoring, and so on, I have a lot of experiential knowledge to share. I have been there. There are certain things we cannot just take away from experience. I have stories, compound antecedents of struggles, fears and victories.
Most importantly, we are sharing from things revealed to us supernaturally. I call this divine intelligence. It comes by inspiration and can only be imparted. An inspired knowledge from God can disintegrate any monstrous challenge you may be battling with as a single person.
