We have become accustomed to the convenience of fast food and carry-out, but we should pay more attention to the containers that they come in.

HOPE RISES FROM THE RUINS

Typhoon Haiyan, one of the largest storms in history, smashed through the central Philippines, leaving monumental piles of debris. Tzu Chi helped residents to clean up the mess.

Haiyan damaged or destroyed many schools in the Philippines. Tzu Chi provided prefabricated classrooms so that children wouldn’t have to miss out on their education.

Tzu Chi medical volunteers went to the Philippines to give medical help to typhoon survivors, but they returned home enriched by the experience.

The crumbling water supply system in Zimbabwe has led to poor sanitation and outbreaks of contagious diseases. Tzu Chi has helped dig wells to ease the situation.

CLEAN TEETH FOR THE HELPLESS

Even patients in a vegetative state need to have their teeth cleaned. Members of the Tzu Chi International Medical Association visit nursing homes and provide free services.

For half his life, he was folded in half by a spinal disease. Ashamed of his appearance, he avoided all human contact. Now after five operations, he walks with his head as high as his spirits.
