This story describes Bunt McBride’s account of Peg-Leg Smith, a shameful one-legged offender. Bunt retells the story on his break from the night shift at the mine. Peg-Leg amputated his own leg and fashioned himself one from a tree stub after he was shot. He was known for his aversion and spent his life trying to get people to stop using words of abusment.
