A vision of the trial is a short story in 9 sections. It represents a Final Judgment in which God and the archangel Gabriel laugh at sinners and saints, shaming them until they flee "from the sleeve of God". After each human soul has taken refuge there, all humanity, "enlightened" and "in new clean bodies," receives a second chance. God shakes them, or rather to us, "out of his sleeve on the planet he had given us to live, the planet that revolved around green Sirius by a sun," he said "now that you understand us a little better. . . Try again.
