When trying to reach the top of the undefeated ridge of Parascotopetl, a fictitious mountain in Ecuador, a mountaineer named Núñez slips and falls to the other side of the mountain. At the end of its descent, along a snowy slope in the shadow of the mountain, it finds a valley, separated from the rest of the world by steep precipices on all sides. Without the knowledge of Núñez, he has discovered the legendary Country of the Blind.
