Daily life has a tendency to get in the way of the writing life, but by listening to others tell their story, fellow writers can appreciate the fact they are not alone. That overwhelming feeling of “other things more important” attacks everyone now and then, from time to time, novice to published author, alike. If one were to give up at the slightest hint of discouragement: rejection letters, computer problems, time desperation, sleep deprivation, writer's block, family or job commitments, and so on... one would never continue the journey to be a published author.
Too many obstacles – whoever said it would be easy?
The stories I hear relay one message all too clearly: if you want to be a writer, write! During the presentation on his take of The Writing Life in the summer of 2004 at Humber College, award winning Canadian author, Richard Scrimger, said it best:
“When writing becomes the most important thing, you will succeed.”
