Lily was not wrong when she suspected the job managing a billionaire estate was too good to be true. She was asked for service above and beyond regular job description but then found out that it was no hardship. At all. So when a misstep caused Gabriel to turn on her, Lily was unprepared for a punishment only a ruthless businessman can mete out...
_______
Lily padded in and started when she saw Gabriel standing at the counter.
"Oh, hi. I didn't know you were coming today."
He didn't reply, his eyes watching her as he took a sip from his glass. There was something in his eyes that Lily had never seen before and the heart pounding came back, for a vastly different reason.
"Inconvenient, isn't it?"
His voice, too, was distant and cold. She wavered and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Interrupting on your little time with the side piece, didn't I?"
She flinched at the barb in his voice. "What are you talking about?" she asked again, her voice shaky, knowing it was useless to deny him.
"That guy, Aaron, right?" he took another sip. "He's gone starting tomorrow."
"Are you crazy?" Lily stepped in, her eyes wide open. "You can't just fire people like that."
"Oh yes, I can," he replied cooly. "They all sign a contract that gets generous severance if I decide to let any of them go at a moment's notice. No wrongful termination, no headache for me, everybody wins."
She stared at him with her mouth open. "That's... that's insane. What did he do?"
"You really want to talk about it?"
"I — " she gasped when he closed the distance between them, his hand seizing her wrist.
"He put his hand on what's mine. That's more than enough."
Lily gaped at him, wondering why an angry man could look so hot. His usually cool and mischievous eyes glinted with fury, dark under his thick brows. His lips thinned and closed with anger only made her wish they had been open, ready to devour her mouth.
