A smoothie a day keeps the doctor away. Okay, I might’ve just made that up, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were true. Everybody knows that eating more fruits and vegetables will improve your health, right? I mean, didn’t your mom and teachers tell you that when you were a kid?

I love smoothies! The recipes in the coming pages are chock full of fruits and vegetables, which means they’re full of nutrients. They taste good, too. Some of them aren’t pretty, but all of them are very yummy.

Who am I to write a book like this? I’ve worked in the fitness industry for nearly 15 years as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor. The biggest hurdle most of my clients face, no matter what their age, is diet.

You may not want to hear this, but nutrition is about 80% of your health and fitness success. I often tell my clients, “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet.” In other words, no matter how often or how hard you work out, if your diet is horrible, you won’t reach your goals. Which is really unfortunate, because if that were the case, I’d have the body of a Victoria’s Secret super model (without the enhanced bust line and airbrushing).

Adding a smoothie to your daily diet is the easiest way to eat better and add loads of nutrients and fiber to your diet. They’re also super filling and satisfying.
