Joseph Rudyard Kipling   was an English short-story writer, poet, and novelist. Не was one of the most popular writers in England, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.  George Orwell called him a "prophet of British imperialism". He wrote tales and poems of British soldiers in India and stories for children, and he also was the first to use Cockney dialect in serious poetry. He was born in Bombay, 
«Consequences» is the title of a short story, which was first published in the “Civil and Military Gazette” and in subsequent editions of that collection. The story is an illustration of the power of Mrs Hauksbee. Tarrion, a "clever and amusing" young officer in an unfashionable regiment, longs for a permanent appointment in Simla. A simple story of a great short story writer without unnecessary fluff make this book a mostly enjoyable experience and worth reading!
