ABOUT THE BOOK
Going into the family business isn’t always the easiest path to choose, particularly when your older brother seemingly has a lock on it. Not one to be sidelined by competition, Eli Manning emerged from the shadows of his famous father and star quarterback brother to stake his own claim in professional football.
Three years after being the number one draft pick, Manning led the New York Football Giants to one of the most celebrated upsets in Super Bowl history, when they dethroned and defeated the previously perfect New England Patriots. He was named MVP of Super Bowl XLII, and he’s far from finished – nor are his critics.
MEET THE AUTHOR
Duet Write is the collaboration of two like minds — and distinct personalities. Friends for more than 30 years, Susan Frasca and Josephine Scanlon have long shared a passion for writing, something they quickly discovered when they met in a college English class. Pursuing their careers individually led to becoming writers and editors for a magazine and a major publisher. Separated by miles, they remained connected by common interests, including their professions, music, their NY sports teams and above all, their dedication to their families. United in spirit, they decided to pursue their dream and took the leap to unite in business. The perfect team; one edits what the other writes; where one leaves off, the other picks up — even they wonder who wrote what! From fiction to nonfiction, articles and blogs to memoirs and autobiographies, as a team, they write as one, to get the words just right.
EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK
Throughout the years following his first Super Bowl win, Eli Manning has known praise and glory; he’s heard it all, from rallying cries to angry shouts demanding that he be fired. In an August 2011 interview with New York radio host and sports announcer Michael Kay on ESPN New York Radio, Eli responded affirmatively when asked if he considered himself an elite quarterback. He was maligned by the media and fans for putting himself in that category, but the calm, cool and composed quarterback proved that he is true to his word.
In 2011-12, the seven-year veteran had the best season of his NFL career, leading his Big Blue Wrecking Crew to the biggest of all sporting events for the second time in four years. The fact that the game is a rematch between the Giants and Patriots adds even more drama to the stage, though Eli downplays the comparisons. Being the youngest Manning, he’s definitely good at that.
