Although I wrote this book to honor the memory of Tyron Thompson, it became evident upon completing the first chapter that it was for those who have or will go through a similar journey. Its about meeting the moment and holding on to it even when its easier to let go. There are no set rules to deal with the residual effects of a cancer diagnosis. There are probably hundreds of books written about the disease, the statistics and the rates of survival. This book is not about the disease but rather those unspoken, undefined residual effects. Its about a single couple that spent almost three decades together and suddenly had to face the realization that perhaps that was all the time theyd have. The outcome was not the happy ending that fairy tales are famous for. This book tells a story not about the outcome but of the journey and the lessons learned when an insidious disease like cancer permeates your very existence. Love, commitment, courage, change and acceptance are all a part of the underlying theme. The reader will leave with an understanding that the obvious miracle thats hoped and prayed for may not always occur but there are a number of miracles that are revealed in the midst of insurmountable odds that are all pointing to that one thing that you dont want to happen and that your adversity, if fact, can be your gift.
