Felicia (and most of her coworkers) did not understand why the quiet, scowling Devin was always there at the diner for his breakfast. She only knew that she loved teasing the man others told her was dangerous, to the point where he would finally spoke. The harsher the better for her. She was warned and told to keep from poking the dragon but ignored it, only to find out she was not prepared for the fire...

"Anything else you want?" I asked as I placed the mug in front of him. As usual, he grunted and shook his head. I looked up when someone walked in and joined him.
It was really unusual since our patrons were not exactly Devin's kind of people and I realized the newcomer was not our regular as soon as I saw his leather jacket. He was young though, very early 20s, with a fresh look in his face that made him blend rather well in our place.
"Hi there, anything I can get you?" I asked.
"What's he having? Black coffee?" he gestured at Devin's mug. "I'll have the same then."
It was disconcerting to see a smile and hear a complete speech, I found myself goggling at the younger man for a little while. "Anything else?"
"Tell her it's your goddamn birthday, she'll get you a free muffin," Devin growled.
The new guy threw a glance at him and then back at me, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Well, it is my birthday," he said, clearly lying through his teeth. "I could do with a muffin."
I grinned at him. "One black coffee, one muffin coming right up."
"Cute girl, what's her name?" I heard the comment as I walked away, even if he toned his voice down.
