This story is about a girl named Mary who was blessed with an “unwavering faith in God” coupled with a relentless determination to find a way to remove anything placed before her that could cause her to fail. She was helped along the way by advice she received from her “Godly” mother who encouraged her to “fill her pockets with dreams” and then work to make those dreams come true.
Failure was not an option in her life. It was not that she never encountered “impassable road blocks.” But when she did she just stopped, prayed, and waited for her “unfailing God” to either remove it, or show her the way around it.
She considered her “calling” into teaching to be twofold. First, of course, was to be the best teacher she could possibly be. Second was to help children find, identify, and help them overcome those things that could be one of the road blocks or hindrances to their success in life. She was not always able to help all of the troubled young people she encountered, but it can never be said she didn’t try.
After a few years of married life, she could have walked away from teaching and lived a life of luxury after her husband built a very successful medical practice. But they both knew that her calling into teaching was just as strong and meaningful as his calling into the medical field. So that option was never a matter of discussion.
Over the years, Mary’s life was not a “bed of roses.” She experienced many heart breaks that would have caused some to question God as to why things happened as they did. But there was never a time in her life that she ever failed to trust Him, and rely upon “His unseen hand” to guide her through the “gift of life” He had blessed her with.
