They all experience the Stubborn Land, and are Stubborn Men, knowing they need to be part of the Patriarchal Provision Solution they begin their journey by Comparing Scars. In context of the 1960s men were empowered by education to become equalizers: no matter which social strata they emerged from they could contribute to the pool of influence in significant seats of power. Mick in particular is challenged to become a man among men.
