Gina Craig thought she could get away with walking off the beaten path just for once in her life. The good wife to the town's headmaster, she got into trouble soon after she set foot in the Lucifer's Circle club. Heath Hunter, co-owner of the shady club came to her rescue, only for Gina to find out she was facing yet another trouble, one that was a lot more dangerous.
___
"Of course I don't want money.
"A guy is dead, Mr Hunter, and I think we should report the incident last night to the police."
"For what purpose?"
"Why... to assist with the investigation of course!"
He angled his head and I felt another blush coming up my face when I saw the laughter in his eyes. "You want me to assist the police in their investigation."
It was absurd yes, ridiculous now that I thought of it, but dammit... "Mr Hunter, the unfortunate guy rolled down the stairs because of the two ofus — on the night of his death. It was not such a stretch to think the police needs to know that."
"Heath," he said.
"Huh?"
"I'm Heath. Nobody ever calls me Mr Hunter."
"I — it doesn't matter. We need..." I trailed off into silence when this time he cupped my cheek and lifted up my face close to his own.
"It matters to me. Call me Heath."
"Wh..." I drew a sharp breath when he tugged, none too gently. "Heath."
A small smile formed around that delicious mouth and I closed my eyes in defense, it was not wise, not wise at all to look...
"You were going to whisper it last night, sighing it out when I kissed you."
