The book is about Hayat, a lady of strong character but subtle personality who lives in the northern part of Pakistan, and how her life experiences change the lives of many, especially Kabir. Kabir, who is the son of a rich industrialist in Karachi, is lost and goes on an unusual journey to find the true meaning of his life. He seeks his answers from Hayat, who is apparently no one compared to his familys success and fame but becomes his lady and changes the course of his life. The story unfolds amazing facts about this town and this lady whom he visits, but the most important of these is Wadi, Hayats husband. This story shows an encounter between the modern and the remote, a dialogue between those who have confined themselves to their self-made heavens and those who have dedicated their lives in serving othersbetween those who cannot find hope even in a perfectly lit world and those who have spent their lives bringing hope to the darkest areas. But most importantly, its a vision of a truly educated world where people are aware and enlightened and not in delusion about their own reality.
