September 11th, 2001… That date brings so many different emotions for every one of us; fear, sadness, anxiety, and anger to name a few. That day changed the world, airport security will never be what it was then, and it seems there has been a constant war going on since that day. A 10 year old boy living in Canada on that day, the news of the terror attacks that took place that morning sent fear into me as I sat in my 6th grade classroom. It would be the event that took place that evening that would shape my life from that day forward, the first incident of trauma and my personal introduction to evil…

Assault, molestation, death threats, rape, and an attempted abduction would be what I faced in the two months following that September day. Depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, PTSD, flashbacks, nightmares, negative coping, dissociation, are just some of the things I have faced since.

Heart of a Lion is my personal journey through the extreme lows, my personal experiences, battles I face daily, pursuing God after hating him, and what I have done as a male survivor to overcome obstacles in an attempt to give other survivors a hope and a voice!
