Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC) known simply as Cicero was a great ancient philosopher and politician. Nowadays Cicero is considered perhaps the greatest orator ever, and his speeches are studied by law students all over the world. His writing style had a major influence not only on the Latin language, but on the European languages in general. His first speech 'In Defense of Quinctius' relating to 81 BC brought his recognition in the field of law. His next speech 'In Defense of Sextus Roscius of Ameria' was even more successful. In that speach he appealed to the Roman society and its moral code, focusing on the particular case. In summary Cicero published more than a hudred of speeches. But his life appeared not that simple: in 60 BC a rebellion broke out in Rome. Cicero refused to be among the rebells and in 58 BC he was exiled. This book is a collection of Cicero's letters. Reading them can be interesting for those who study history, law and literature, as they are a bright example of the epistolary genre.
