The work which has become a legend, a symbol, large as life - Utopia. Thomas Moore put all his thoughts and hopes in this large paper on democracy. Unsuccessfully, but in rather a detailed way, Moore describes the ideal country with an ideal government where there is no descrimination and all people are tolerant. However, he doesn't only sketch this imaginable land - he also gives a structured summary of its laws and governing system. In fact, there are two parts of the Utopia: - the philosophical pamphlet in which the author talks about politics and economics and their state in his days; he blames the government for making a convention against people and defines the essence of democracy; - the detailed description of life conditions in Utopia and its laws; the land is seen as ruled by an "ideal monarch", everyone works 6 hours a day Despite the naivete of some of his opinions Moore describes the contemporary to him government perfectly and does an amazing researcn on the theory of wellfare.
