This full-length play dramatizes the struggles in the young life of the man many Americans consider our greatest President. The play covers the time period of Abraham Lincoln's boyhood in Illinois through his legal career until he is finally nominated as the Republican Party's candidate for President in 1860. It is a script suitable for high school and young community theater troupes.

6 female, 7 male cast! There is no royalty fee for this play to be produced as a community theater or student production by a public or charter school before June 1, 2018 . After June 1, 2018 – community theaters and school royalties are only $5 per performance. All others must enquire with the author.

This play may be a good choice for directors who are looking for a play with opportunities for a less-experienced company to explore historic drama and stagecraft (lighting, sound and other special effects). This script may not be appropriate for all school groups.

Formatting Note: This script is in a simplified script format to accommodate the widest possible variety of e-readers, some of which cannot support some aspects of commonly accepted play script formats.
