Madame Husson, in love with purity and virtue, set herself the goal of crowning the “rose girl” of Gisors, i. e. the most respectful young girl. After an investigation conducted by her maid, the hard-core Françoise, she understood that no girl in the city met the criteria. She then found hardly anything but the son of the fruit grower, Isidore, a simple and candid young man. After asking Father Malou for his advice, Isidore was crowned “rose bush” in a grand ceremony.
