As a young child, I was faced with the loss of my father; Rev. Clement Duclair. A man that was well respected in his home and his community. Over the years, I carried the loneliness and emptiness of not having a father figure in my life. The loss of a loved one was not the only adversity that I faced; now an adult, after facing multiple health challenges, the doctor’s diagnosed me with LUPUS. A disease that was not well known to medical professionals. I was faced with multiple miscarriages, hanging on to the slightest hope to be able to give birth to a child. Living in Montreal, I decided to relocate to Toronto, the career change and remarriage. Life’s challenges didn’t stop there. As I was enjoying a “girls night out” with friends, that evening ended at the ER of Trillium hospital which at a later time, the unthinkable was diagnosed; Ovarian Cancer. With no genetic history of cancer in my family, this was devastating. This memoir is about my life story on how I overcame uncertainties, stress, and profound pain. It also highlights the many blessings that came out of these challenges and the people who helped me along the way. This is my personal touch of my story... Pain, Hope and Beauty!
