Paradise lost is an epic poem in blank verse written by English poet John Milton, published in 1667. It consists of ten books and regarded as Milton’s major work which makes him one of the greatest English poets of his time. The poem is about biblical story of the Fall of Man – the temptation of Adam and Eve by the Satan and their expulsion from Eden. Paradise Lost develops themes biblical story about creation of the world and foundation of the Hell. Significant role is devoted to Satan who rises in rebellion against God, because of not willing to kneel, recruits one third of angels on order to begin armed war against angels. Adam and Eve were a married couple before the Fall. They tasted forbidden fruit and got banished from Heaven. The Son stands up for them and gives them hope to return to the Heaven.
