Walter Crane was primarily a designer and book illustrator, specialising in children's books. “Princess Belle-Etoile” is the exciting story, written by Madame d'Aulnoy. Once upon a time there were three Princesses, who lived in retirement with their mother. One day an old woman called and asked for a dinner. After the meal was over, the old woman, who was a fairy, promised that their kindness should be rewarded. Shortly after there were a grand wedding ceremony of three sisters with the king, his admiral and king's brother, respectively.
