SEVEN TEXTS ABOUT ECOLOGY: POINTS OF VIEW OF ONE BRAZILIAN ECOLOGICAL ACTIVIST is a compilation of texts, articles and papers elaborated by the Brazilian environmentalist Maurício Waldman during the last five years, published in newspapers, magazines, academic journals and websites. Waldman, a historical environmentalist of the State of São Paulo, demonstrates in this collection of texts, a heterogeneous succession of issues that inspire his actions, thoughts and interests, points of view that also are representative of his life as researcher, social activist, journalist and professor. The intellectual trajectory of Maurício Waldman - expressive, plural and independent -, has been incorporated to debates about public policies, in academic field and social mobilizations. Since the years 1970, Waldman writes texts that are published in all kinds of publications, a strong intellectual activism that now, is accessible to English language's readers. Editora Kotev, a digital Brazilian publishing house, contributes, in this way, to discuss the associations between environmentalist ideas that are global in its hegemonic shape, but nationals in its particular essence. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: MAURÍCIO WALDMAN is a journalist, editor, researcher, professor, anthropologist and veteran activist of Brazilian environmentalist movement. Waldman was born in São Paulo, Brazil, on December 2, 1955. As social activist, he collaborated with several organizations, like Comitê de Apoio aos Povos da Floresta de São Paulo (São Paulo Forest People Committee), Centro de Estudos Africanos da Universidade de São Paulo (CEA: African Studies Centre, University of São Paulo) and Centro Ecumênico de Documentação e Informação (CEDI: Ecumenical Centre of Documentation and Information, São Paulo/Rio de Janeiro).  Maurício Waldman collaborated with Chico Mendes, participated in movements against dams, mobilizations in support to waste collectors and against water pollution in metropolitan area of São Paulo. He was the Director of the Children Homeless School of São Paulo, Coordinator of São Paulo Recycling Service and Editor of the Associação dos Geógrafos Brasileiros (AGB: Brazilian Geographers Association). Maurício Waldman published extensively on Ecology, Environmental education, Water Resources, Waste Management, Culture, Urbanization, Development and Black Africa: 600 texts, articles and papers, including 16 books. Waldman has been a columnist for Brazilian media. He has published articles in Diário do Grande ABC, Cultura Verde, Brasil-Angola Magazine, Ambiente Urbano, Jornal Cultura (Luanda, Angola) and the like. He is Post Doctor in Geosciences (University of Campinas, UNICAMP, 2011), Post Doctor in International Relations (University of São Paulo, USP, 2013) and Post Doctor in Environment (Programa Nacional de Pós Doutorado, PNPD-CAPES, 2015). Waldman translated An Eco Modernist Manifesto (Breakthrough Institute) from English to Portuguese and El Ecologismo de los Pobres (Joan Martínez Alier), from Spanish to Portuguese.
