If everyone in your household tosses back packs, handbags, briefcases, and coats on the sofa, organizing all those stuff today isn’t going to prevent them to be in the same place tomorrow. After twenty four hours, the clutter will be back.
The given example shows you how clutter repeats itself every single day, even if it’s been taken care of the previous day. In this case, the cause of the problem could be having no designated area for each item. (You will learn more about designating a resting area for each of your stuff in chapter 5.) So instead of simply taking care of the clutter, you need to confront the root cause of the problem and find a way to solve it.
