It is an axiom that the greater the love shared, the greater the sorrow on parting this life.

Sipping Tea is a collection of poems written over the swirling of many years, at the centre of which lies the death of the poet’s beloved wife, which occurred in 2015. It is a love story—written as an homage to Diana, and as an inquiry into Saxby’s deep and desperate grief in the wake of her passing.

If we do not know the pain of it already, the fear of losing the person we’ve lovingly lived our life alongside of can prove a source of terror. In this often-tragic but always grateful collection, we meet a man in the midst of this anguish, and accompany him as he falls into the depths of despair and learns, with difficulty, to live—and love—again.
