Il saggio analizza alcuni documenti relativi al primo sistema di disegno digitale, chiamato Sketchpad dal suo autore – il giovane studente del MIT Ivan Sutherland – nella versione bidimensionale e nella sua declinazione tridimensionale, a cinquant'anni dalla sua creazione. Alcune differenze rispetto alle tecniche tradizionali di rappresentazione mostrano il grande impegno a suo tempo destinato anche alla sua formulazione teorica, come si evince da alcuni significativi contributi teorici, tra i quali bisogna annoverare quelli di Steven Coons, e alcune note tecniche relative al sistema utilizzato. | The paper analyses several documents illustrating the first two-dimensional and three-dimensional digital drawing systems, called Sketchpad, invented fifty years ago by the young MIT student Ivan Sutherland. Several differences between Sketchpad and traditional representation techniques reveal the enormous effort devoted to its theoretical formulation. This effort is illustrated by several important theoretical contributions, including the ones by Steven Coons, and several technical memorandums about its operating system.
