It's an ancient tradition among the Christians, especially in Catholic and Anglican domains, to celebrate the Stations of the Cross, also Way of the Cross or simply The Cross especially in the Holy Week and Good Friday.
If You search in the internet for these terms (Google, Wikipedia etc.), You'll read that there are some differences within this celebrations. In this ebook You can view a painted Stations of the Cross with 14 stations, as shown in Utzenhofen. The pictures are shown separated from the stone columns of the single stations with the descriptions of the scenes in English, French and German.
As shown in a slab at station 14, this Stations of the Cross were erected by the local priest (Fr. P. Clementi - in other sources also Clemente) and a private (Seb. Preussl from Mühlhausen - the neighbouring municipality) in the year 1900. The way is about 600 m in length.
The first two stations are on the left side of the way (see cover picture), all others on the right one.
Between Neumarkt and Amberg in the Oberpfalz (Bavaria, Germany) there is Markt Kastl. A part of this community is Utzenhofen. Nearby is Mühlhausen, where Seb. Preussl - one of the builder - was from (see above).
