Il libro raccoglie gli atti del convegno internazionale Sopra il gusto moderno: Civiltà musicale napoletana nell’età di Pergolesi, tenutosi a Napoli nel Gennaio del 2010 nell’ambito delle celebrazioni per i 300 anni della nascita di Pergolesi. Il volume esplora l’epoca e il contesto in cui fiorì il genio di Pergolesi in prospettiva interdisciplinare. Particolare rilievo ha la ricerca archivistico-documentaria: oltre 10000 notizie inedite sulla vita teatrale e musicale a Napoli nel primo Settecento sono riportate alla luce e permettono una nuova ricostruzione storica di quella stagione.

The book contains the proceedings of the conference Sopra il gusto moderno: Civiltà musicale napoletana nell’età di Pergolesi, held in Naples in January 2010 as part of the celebrations for the 300th anniversary of Pergolesi’s birth. Based on an interdisciplinary perspective, it provides insight into the time and context in which Pergolesi’s genius flourished. Special emphasis is placed upon archival research: over 10000 unpublished documents about the musical and theatrical life in Naples in the early 18th century are brought to light, so as to offer a new historical reconstruction of that age.
