As the story begins, we are introduced to Marcus Yallow. He is a seventeen years old techno whiz, to be more precise, a hacker, from San Francisco.
One day, Frederick Benson, the vice Principal of Caesar Chavez High School accuses Marcus of hacking into the school. It becomes obvious that Marcus and the vice Principal do not get along well. Marcus believes that Benson has been continually trying to get rid of him. However, since there is no evidence against the boy, he is let go.
Darryl is Marcus’s best friend. Later that day, both of them escape school to go to play a huge mixed reality role game which also has a scavenger hunt around town as its part. They meet the other members of their group and the game players Vanessa and Jolu.
