“…The sexual life of women is a ‘dark continent’ for psychology.”

So said Sigmund Freud in the middle of the 20th century. Years later, in the modern age of equality, we would be wise to include men in the quote, as evidenced by this collection of ‘stories’ told by men and women to a psychologist.

The content and the narrators of the 20 stories are not analysed. They are simply heard. A woman pleasured with a biscuit, another taking two men in a hotel room, and yet another finding her power through sex in public are balanced by men who aggressively and opportunistically seduce or are seduced, whether it be in the back of a car, on their neighbour’s kitchen floor or through a hole in a ceiling.

In this first volume of tape transcripts, there are graphic descriptions of intense sexual encounters – in part funny, in part worrying – revealing pain and pleasure, love and loss.
