Andrew Lang was a Scottish prolific author, mostly known as the collector of folk and fairy tales. “The Blue Parrot” is a French fairy tale entered in “The Olive Fairy Book”, that was published in 1907. The story tells about the king of Arabia, named Lino, who is the young wise ruler. The neighbouring kingdom is governed by the Swan fairy, who has charming daughter, the Princess Hermosa.The Swan fairy always has an ambassador at the young king’s court, and on hearing the grumbles of the citizens that Lino shows no signs of taking a wife, the ambassador decides to bring Princess Hermosa with Lino together. Some time later the young king starts the journey to the Swan’s Kingdom. But Unfortunately for Lino, there was another neighbour, powerful magician Ismenor, who has a hideous daughter Riquette. She is in love with Lino, and, learning about his matchmaking, is thrown into transports of grief. And now her father is ready for anything to prevent the marriage of young king with charming Princess Hermosa.
