Notting Hill back in Nineties - before the bankers moved in. Marcus Arbuthnott Trotter, a tortured young painter, is haunted by the corpse of a Serbian war criminal who wants his mother’s charming new boyfriend dead. With his artistic career in a coma and his actress flatmate trying to top herself, is Marcus’s paranoia finally getting the better of him?
Funny but touching, this is a bitter sweet story of leavetaking. A spooky, psychological thriller with touches of Hamlet and Withnail.
Patrick Marmion is a London based writer, writing for for screen, stage and page. The Dead Guy is his first novel. He has written plays including The Institute, Pieta (after Chekhov's Seagull) and Terms & Conditions. Screenplays include Mushroom Soup (about an hallucinogenic stag weekend written for Sam Mendes and Renaissance Films), an adaptation of his novel The Dead Guy and a magical family film Archie Tanner & The Dodo that crosses ET with Madagascar.
Patrick is a leading theatre critic in the UK having written for the London Evening Standard, the Daily Mail, Time Out magazine and many more publications including Spiked Online. He is an Associate Lecturer at the University of Kent.
