There is only one vampire left to infect the Adirondack Preserve, and he will not go down quietly. As their W.A.N.D. Project has not yet produced a working wand, the warlocks are desperate enough to turn to a buffer, a man without magic named Mason (no one is sure if this is his first or last name), for help in their hunt for ‘Dracula’, last king of the vampires. Armed with the world’s first sniper rifle—the only long range buffer weapon simple enough to work on the Preserve—Mason and the warlocks engage in a fight to the death. In the deep darkness of an October evening, they corner the king. Barbed chains are fired from an enormous crossbow, piercing the nigh-impenetrable flesh of the king; blessed stangs, some of them roiling with flames, and a Montfort Circle are only a few of the techniques employed by the warlocks to restrain Dracula long enough for Mason to do his job. In the end, whether the king lives on or not, his legacy will endure, and the warlocks will turn to their W.A.N.D. Project with renewed purpose.
No one escapes unscathed from the Preserve—no one.
