Andrew Lang (1844 – 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. The Andrew Lang lectures at the University of St Andrews are named after him. Preferring romance over realism, he admired their works as well as those of Alexandre Dumas Père, Henry Fielding, William Makepeace Thackeray, fellow Scot Robert Burns and many others. 'The Lion And The Cat' is a fairy tale first published in 1904 as a part of the collection book 'The Brown Fairy Book'. It tells us about two brothers: the lion and the wild cat. The lion is strong and fast so he can hunt for food enough for the two of them. But he can't kill snakes and bears and fears them. This part of the job is done by the cat who can kill then using his magic ball. But one day this duet seems to be falling apart...
