Robert Barr was born in Scotland but when he was four his family moved to Canada. Barr's works are often based on his own experience and reveal his personality: straightforward and even cruel at first sight but very kind when you take a serious look. Plodkins was a usual crosser on the Atlantic steamers. He was a businessperson who had a deal with commercial houses on both sides of the ocean; he sold in America for an English house and bought in England for an American establishment. He was the great seller, he was very skilled in trading. But in one morning I met him in the bathroom of the steamship. Firstly I thought that he was dead. He laid at the floor and his eyes were focused on the ceiling. But suddenly Plodkins whispered: “Thank you God”. What was the matter with him? What Happened next? Read the whole story to know it!
