Born on January 5, 1978 in Soux Falls, South Dakota, January Jones worked as a model prior to landing parts in movies like Bandits, Love Actually, Anger Management and American Wedding. She's co-starred for several periods in the acclaimed TELEVISION series Mad Men as Betty Draper, for which she's received Emmy and Golden Globe nods. She's later starred in the 2011 movies Unknown and X-Men: First Class.

Aspiring Model

Actress and model January Jones was born upon January 5, 1978, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Maturing, Jones worked as a life guard and at a regional Dairy Queen. "I hung out with men in high school. We were hippies into the Dead, Zeppelin, Phish," she told GQ. Jones was a normal teen in numerous regards. Her dad Marv informed People publication that she attempted to slip out of the house on a variety of celebrations. "One evening she went out the basement window. Our dog was barking, which got her caught. Following time, she tried taking the canine with her."

After graduating senior high school, Jones decided to try her luck in New York City. "Everything was a culture shock. The individuals were various, the sights were different, the meals was various ... I was experiencing a liberty I had not before," she informed WWD magazine. Jones began as a model. Not tall enough for some jobs, she appeared in commercial ads for such companies as Abercrombie & Fitch and Clearasil. "I didn't truly appreciate it. It was a method to an end for me," Jones when said.

Jones took a break from modeling, spending a couple of months in Paris. To name a few pursuits, she reviewed the works of Ayn Rand and visited the grave of rocker Jim Morrison while there. Jones then went back to New York briefly prior to moving out to Los Angeles to launch her acting profession.

Breaking into Acting

In 1999, she had a bit part in the tv movie Sorority. Jones likewise appeared in the pilot episode of Get Real with Jon Tenney. She became well known for her relationship with Ashton Kutcher rather than for her acting skills. According to a meeting in GQ publication, Kutcher was not supportive of Jones' efforts to become a starlet. Jones and Kutcher broke up in 2001.
