«George Robert Gissing (1857 - 1903) was a famous English novelist. Throughout his life also worked as a teacher, tutor. Topham's Chance by Robert Gissing is a short story describing a history of two thirty aged men one of which is a wealthy well dressed man, and his companion had a seedy appearance and looked as a neglected person. This is a main character named Topham who was a labor of rich Mr. Starkey. But he realized that he wastes his life time working for nothing and earning less than you may guess. In this story he is trying to make the best effort to make his way and become financially independent person. Meanwhile he clearly understands it will be a hard way but there is nothing left and no one can help him. Will he manage to put right his life?
