Two Short Novels

by Zaynah Mahmud

Two Short Novels is based on unexplained personal issues that often maul high-spirited people behind the curtain.

The first short novel was taken from a series of true events that accrued in author Zaynah Mahmud’s life, especially when she was married to a drug addict for almost a year. It dawned upon her that women undergo domestic violence inside their bedrooms for year after year, yet they swallow their pride and gladly embrace it as the karma of life.

The second novel was very much borrowed from documents of famous people in the film industry. Their inability to voice out suppressed agony motivated her to come out with a small story on how they should relent pondering about their on-screen image and hollering the barren truth they have to endure each day with a smile.

About the Author

Zaynah Mahmud is an artist and poet who loves mother nature very much. She was born in London on August 5, 1986, to educated parents with open minds. Apart from being a dreamer with hope of seeing a safer and secured place for children, she also wishes to deliver a silent voice of suppressed victims to the world. Maybe her small effort to reach out to the worldly audience through penmanship might motivate women to stand tall like her. Lastly, she is a social worker who is connected to Zonta Club International.

At the moment, Mahmud is pursuing a diploma in French at Alliance Françoise de Dhaka and has done a brief course in Mandarin Chinese from Brac University. She is also taking music lessons in guitar and piano.

Her mother tongue language is Bengali. For her, English is a foreign language, hence she is lucky to receive full knowledge on English.

Mahmud’s hobbies include to writing poems and reading. If there is anything she detests in this world, its racism. Let’s join together to save planet earth to eliminate racism, to fight climate change, and to hold children’s hands with love. Please say no to poaching animals.
